We get this question all the time. Fortunately, we have some of the greatest customers in the world who not only solved this problem, but were kind enough to share it with us so we could share it with the community. But wait, there's more: this customer even took the time to send in pictures!
While the Slickster isn't optimized for IcePlate MOLLE Sleeve mounting in the same way as our IcePlate EXO (ICE) with it's unique combination of MOLLE + Velcro Hook and Velcro Loop, it is still super easy and functional. Without further delay, here is how you mount our IcePlate MOLLE Sleeves (IMS and IMS Pro), the ultimate in low profile plate carrier hydration, to a standard Ferro Concepts Slickster for a super slick plate carrier hydration solution.
See what we did there?
"Hello....I have a Ferro Slickster plate carrier and was really interested in adding your IcePlate Molle sleeve to it. I like the idea of being able to run it in the sleeve, or use it with straps like the original IcePlate (Classic). I decided to go ahead and order the IcePlate MOLLE Sleeve Pro Combo (IMS Pro Combo) and see if I could make something work. What I came up with works really well and I wanted to share it with you, as it might be a good option for people running slick carriers like the Ferro.
I used the Ferro Molle Front Flap and used the molle to attach to the backside of your molle sleeve, this allows the bottom of the sleeve to velcro to the back of the plate carrier.
I used a set of G hooks and 1" strap to run over the shoulders and attach to the front of the Ferro, then attached to the top of the molle sleeve with clips. This setup mimics the setup of the standard front flap attachments by having the straps / G hooks carry the weight of the sleeve and the large piece of velcro to keep it from flopping around.
I've tested this setup out and it works really well and so far has not moved at all. I've attached a few pictures of the setup and thought you might be interested in it. If you offered an addon kit with the straps / molle velcro I'm sure other folks running slick carriers would be interested. One last note, I liked this setup idea because I can unhook the G hooks and pull the whole setup off in seconds and be back to a slick carrier if I wanted. It gives me 3 options (no water, IcePlate on the inside, or molle sleeve) really quickly.
You guys make a great product....I look forward to putting it to more use!
Thanks - J.
