IceVents Classic Pontoons provide padding and ventilation inside your plate carrier or soft armor on your chest and back, promoting evaporative cooling and eliminating hotspots. Say goodbye to heavy, bulky, and crude legacy ventilation made from foam and switch to wafer-thin, ultra light, IceVents. IceVents connect directly to the inside of all body armor equipped with body-facing loop fields/pontoons. If your carrier is not equipped with internal pontoons, we provide adhesive hook and loop pontoon strips to adhere/sew onto any plate carrier, chest rig or soft armor vest.
***IMPORTANT NOTE: While the adhesive is sufficient for mild applications, like a day at the range, for more strenuous applications like infantry live fires, o-courses, and amphibious operations (OTB, MIO, VBSS) we strongly recommend having your uniform tailor or shoe cobbler professionally sew the Velcro hook strips to your IceVents and your Velcro loop strips to the inside of your plate carrier. Click here for instructions.***
Each Package Includes:
- 2x IceVents Classic Stand-Off Ventilation Pontoon Pads
- 2x Hook and Loop Cut pieces to be sewn onto plate carriers not equipped with pontoon loop strips
- Click here for sewing instructions (STRENUOUS APPLICATIONS)
IceVents are ideal for dry and arid climates where evaporative cooling is effective. For humid climates, we recommend the unrivaled conductive cooling power of IcePlate Curve.

I was getting some neck/shoulder pain with the original shoulder strap padding. After changing up to Qore Ice Vents I could not believe what a difference it made. I plan to line my tactical belt and heavy entry kit with ice vents as well!
In14yrs of working on the east coast of Australia (currently in Bondi) as a General Duties Sgt, senior weapons trainer & public order & riot specialist, dealing with the heat has been a constant issue. Particularly under my Integrated Light Armour Vest, which I wear at all times, even in the middle of summer!
Six weeks ago I installed IceVent classic pads in my vest and immediately noticed an improvement. It still gets just as hot under the vest, but I’ve noticed the heat is able to dissipate faster. I’ve also noticed my vest isn’t gathering sweat and, as a result, is not smelling and requires laundering less often.
I am considering fitting IceVent pads under the shoulder straps of my vest & will post my feedback on them in the future.
I purchased two sets, one for my JPC shoulder straps and on set for my front plate bag. The set applied to my shoulder straps made a remarkable redistribution of weight for my level 4 plates.
I will be returning the pair for my plate bag because I was not comfortable with adhering the pads directly to the fabric on my carrier.
These create that airgap between your chest and the plate carrier and increases the airflow underneath. The only thing is if you're shirtless it can get uncomfortable, otherwise 5/5.
So long Story Short 3 Crushed Vertebra and my rig was just pushing on 2 of them to the point I had to take it off after 30 mins Got the Pontoons and went from Flat to Curved plates and now I can wear it without Issue
Using these in conjunction with a FirstSpear AAC. Need to buy the shoulder pads soon. But these are the comfiest pads I've owned. And I've used an AVS
I wore the shoulder pads on my Spiritus Systems LV119 Overt and MK4 while teaching a class yesterday and there were times I did not realize that I had the PC on. It is very comfortable and distributes the weight of the PC. It is a must have
IceVents (2-Pack): Plate Carrier / Soft Body Armor Ventilation Pontoons
Purchased two sets of these to wear inside an AWS OCPC. I fixed the Velcro to the vest and the pads a according to the directions a week before a major training exercise. The back pads didn't last 72 hours in the maneuver box before they separated from their Velcro backing. I moved the front pads to the back pad position and they lasted about another 5 days before similarly separating. These might be nice for cops, EMS or servicemembers who aren't constantly moving and sweating in their vest, but the Velcro adhesive will fail lightfighters in sustained
high temperature environments.
We're so sorry to hear that IceVents didn’t work for you and we want to make sure we make this right for you. We never want a customer to feel like they have wasted their money with us.
We'd like to offer you two options to make this right for you:
The IceVents Plate Carrier and Body Armor Ventilation (2-Pack) product page recommends sewing the Loop Pontoon strips to the plate carrier for strenuous applications. The adhesive is only supposed to be used to make the sewing process easier. However, I recognize that our IceVents Plate Carrier and Body Armor Ventilation page didn’t say this explicitly at the time you made your purchase (it has since been updated), so a little confusion here is understandable and totally our fault. As such, if you feel like IceVents are otherwise valuable for you and the adhesive confusion is the only point of contention, we’d like to offer to send you $50 to cover the cost of having your uniform tailor sew the adhesive-backed Loop Pontoon Strips to your PC.
If you feel that IceVents are just not right for you, we’d like to offer to have you return them to us for a full refund. Even if you are no longer our customer, we want your last experience with us to be a great one. We never want a customer to feel slighted in anyway. We work extremely hard at trying to make sure every customer feels like they are treated with honor and integrity while receiving exceptional value when interfacing with us.
Please let us know which of these options sounds most appealing to you and we’ll make it happen right away!
I put these on my Crye JPC 2.0 and it made the world of a difference. The Crye has narrow shoulder straps on it that can dig into your shoulders when heavy loads are popped on it. After a few hours you start to notice the straps. These pads not only help with the ventilation, but they also really help spread the load out. Would recommend for load distribution more than ventilation.
