70 W Cooling

Freeze ICEPLATE® Gen 3 and carry it body-facing for conductive cooling. Typical cooling duration is 2–4 hours, depending on conditions and workload.

52 W Heating

Use ICEPLATE® Gen 3 with warm water for conductive heating. Typical heating duration is 3–5 hours; follow the current temperature limits and filling instructions.

1.55 L Hydration

The Drinkable package includes a Source 90 drink tube and 52.4 fl oz / 1.55 L ICEPLATE® Gen 3 reservoir for Cooling, Heating, Hydration.

Thermal performance depends on conditions, workload and body-facing placement. Follow current filling, freezing and warm-water instructions. Carrier-only packages do not include ICEPLATE®; drink tubes are included only with Drinkable configurations.

Uncomfortable, sometimes difficult to adjust.

I love that it holds the plate, and overall it's fairly lightweight! However, the shoulder straps are angled slightly outwards/straight instead of being inwards or recessed, so it tends to slip off a LOT.

TAPS + Iceplate Backpack chestrig

Add 2 more QASM buckles and straps to the back of the ICEPLATE Sleeve, run 4 female 1in buckles on the corners of your TAPS, and boom you have a good chest rig setup. Works great as a camelbak replacement especially when running the whole setup over a slick plate carrier. Only complaint is I wish they made the sleeve and iceplate a little bigger at least up to match a large plate size.

More comfortable and durable than a Camelbak. But more annoying and inconvenient when empty.

I like the idea of this more than I actually like it. The closer this gets to being empty the more of a hindrance it becomes. Unless I have somewhere to ditch it once I drink all the water, I don’t take it with me. Works well for short term use, especially when it’s pressed against your back. This could just be a me thing, but my back only touches 2/3s of the plate unless I’m sitting down or have a backpack on top of it.

ICEPLATE® Backpack Gen 3 (Cooling, Heating and Hydration Backpack for Military, Safety, Outdoor, Ski/Snow)

Impressive performance in a small package.

This iceplate backpack made a big difference in the comfort and enjoyment of my hiking and walking trails. I can comfortably carry less bulk and still maintain everything I need for my walks. The added benefits of being able to add hot water or freeze the iceplate gives it year round use capability in a comfortable small package.

Works well, but the design could use some work.

The backpack works very well keeping me cool. The main issues I have with it are the straps and the velcro on the back. Being a larger person I have to have the straps adjusted to the max, which exposes velcro causing them to scratch. The velcro on the back has gotten caught up in my vest a few times. The cost of the backpack is also high for what you get. Over all I do recommend the backpack for anyone working or playing out in the heat.

Questions before you buy

Which package gives me all three benefits?

Drinkable provides Cooling, Heating, Hydration through ICEPLATE® Gen 3 and the Source 90 drink tube. Cooling/Warming Only has Closed Caps and no drink tube. Backpack Only contains no reservoir.

Can I use a reservoir I already own?

Choose Backpack Only if you already have ICEPLATE® Gen 3. Check the reservoir generation and mounting fit before ordering.

Can I choose a different reservoir color?

Packaged MIL colors include Coyote ICEPLATE® Gen 3; HiVis includes Frost. Choose Backpack Only and buy ICEPLATE® separately for a different configuration.

Does the HiVis backpack replace a Class 2 safety vest?

Do not infer a safety-vest classification from the backpack’s HiVis color. Check the visibility requirements for your work and the product labeling; explore the dedicated ICEPLATE EXO® HiVis Class 2 Safety Vest where that format is required.

Can I drink while the reservoir is frozen?

In the Drinkable package, liquid water becomes available as the ice melts. Plan a separate water supply if you need immediate drinking water while ICEPLATE® is fully frozen.

How do I adjust or clean the backpack?

Use the setup video for strap adjustment and reservoir installation. Follow the current instructions for the textile carrier, reservoir, caps and drink tube before cleaning.
