I purchased an ice shield for my husband and accidentally purchased the wrong color. This is a great piece of gear. It is well built and super comfortable and yes keeps your hands warm but I also use it to store other things. It fits perfectly under my Ferro Concepts chest rig and looks cool!

Overall love this hand warmer. Definitely a life changer at cold, windy ranges and standing around. The little pockets for heater packs is a great idea and works for small items. Just wish there was a bit more hook and loop attachment to the carrier so it gets better purchase and not pull away as easily.

The hand warmer will stay on my kit year round. With the addition of soft armor it bridges the gap between the plates and the groin protector and provides a small admin type pocket. Super low profile and doesn’t get in the way while sitting or dynamic movements.

Used this the other night for a low light shoot and it dropped down to 28 degrees. This would be great for an extended time where you can keep your hands in the pocket. I had hot hands superwarmers in the front and back zipper pockets and it did not work very well to warm my hands. For the future i plan to use the pockets as storage for the hand warmers and will have the warmers loose in the main pocket in hopes of getting better results. I will say i like the slim profile of it. I run it behind a spiritus mk2 on my carrier and doesnt interfere with anything. Overall id recommend but i think the price is a little steep. 50 bucks would be a fair value for this product in my opinion

Thank you for taking the time to share an honest account of your IceShield Plus experience. We are sorry to hear that you had some issues with the hot hands/IceShield Plus interface. In our experience, sometimes hot hands won't activate if they are dropped into the IceShield Plus pocket too soon after opening. They require a good bit of oxygen (requiring shaking) to start the exothermic chemical reaction (basically rusting) that generates the heat to keep your hands warm. Also, we are about to release (next week) an IceShield Plus-specific soft armor insert. IceShield Plus was designed from the ground up for soft armor inserts (super thin profile) and adding them significantly boosts the warming effect of the system. I brought the Qore Handwarmer pocket with me to a training exercise up in the mountains in northern Utah and this product was so effective that I ended up leaving my winter gloves in my bag the entire time. Throw some hand warmers in the slots, and you will be able to maintain use of your fingers for touch screens, knot tying, trigger use, etc. w/out putting on and taking off gloves.

From the Canadian infantry here, it gets to about -40 Celsius and it keeps my hands warm as hell. It attaches to any configuration I'm wearing that day whether it be a plate carrier battle belt or micro rig. Lowepro it's behind my hangers. Well made I dragged it through a lot of stuff gravel, snow, all good.
