Junior Industrial Designer

Do you love building things with your hands? Do you consider yourself a creative? Do your friends and family all think of you as a creative? Did you find school boring and frustrating because you have a "doer" personality? Do you love things like woodworking, metal shop, welding, and printing? Do you like to sew? Are you able to assemble things without the instruction manual? Do you have exceptional spacial reasoning and always find yourself being able to "see the solution" in your head in 3D? Do you love CAD, Adobe, Rhino, Cinema4D and similar programs?

Junior Industrial Designer is an entry/mid-level position on the Design Team reporting to the Senior Industrial Designer and ultimately, the Vice President of Marketing. The position also works closely with the CFO and the Operations Team to move products from design to production. The Junior Industrial Designer is in charge of some of the most important company assets: bringing our new product visions to life and getting them production ready. This role is more important than ever as we are a vertically integrated company, meaning we invent, design, engineer, manufacture, brand, market, sell, distribute, and fulfill every product we make, all in-house. We’re looking for someone committed to seeing their work realized everyday in pursuit of supporting our customers across all branches of the US Military, Constitutional Law Enforcement, SPORT, Safety, and Devices as well as America's finest enterprises to improve and save lives. Junior Industrial Designer responsibilities:

A. Soft Goods design - ideation sketches, prototyping Tech Pack creation (Bill of Materials, pattern, assembly instructions, callouts), materials identification and sourcing

B. Hard Goods design - ideation sketches/concepts, 3D modeling (Fusion360), prototyping (printing, clay, etc.)

C. Testing/Validation for all new product concepts, prototypes

Required proficiency:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, XD, After Effects, etc.)
  • CAD (we use Fusion360)
  • 3D printing/additive manufacturing
  • Renderings
  • Soft goods construction, prototyping (sewing, cutting, pattern making)

Familiarity strongly preferred:

  • welding (RF, Ultrasonic)
  • woodworking
  • hard goods design
  • tool construction/design
  • blow and injection molding
  • backpacking
  • shooting/firearms experience
  • Military, Law Enforcement, First Responder background/experience

How we will measure success: iterative process with leadership, project handoff to Production, ability to internalize and design "on brand" and ability to internalize end-user empathy

Requirements

  • Minimum three years experience as a professional Industrial Designer
  • All candidates must have the legal ability to work in the USA without sponsorship
  • Ability to clearly communicate in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required of the job
