The time has come for us to expand the IMS family and bring internal ICEPLATE® Curve mounting to every MOLLE-equipped plate carrier on the market. The Army previously requested that we accomplish this using our Side Release Armor Straps to meet their requirements. Like most US government-inspired designs, and by our standards, this was not an optimal or elegant solution (the Side Release Armor Straps are a discontinued product). All of that changes now with our all-new IMS VERSA Gen 3 for plate carriers that lack the internal loop Velcro fields like you can find on our ICEPLATE EXO®, Crye Precision AVS, or Shaw Concepts ARC Carrier V2 to readily mount ICEPLATE® Curve for internal, conductive cooling, heating, and hydration.
What is the difference between IMS, IMS Versa Gen 3, and IMS Pro?
Our proven ICEPLATE® Curve has been a game changer for plate carrier users for some time now, eliminating heat injuries for tens of thousands of end users across public and private organizations. However, not every setup could utilize our ICEPLATE® MOLLE Sleeve systems. No matter your preference or mission requirements in a plate carrier, you can take advantage of the thermoregulation technology of ICEPLATE® Curve with our all-new, universal IMS VERSA Gen 3.
The elegant laser-cut split bar ladder mounts on either side of the sleeve give the VERSA its namesake, universal plate carrier, and soft body armor compatibility. The game-changing versatility of adjustment makes mounting an ICEPLATE® Curve to any MOLLE-equipped carrier as simple as choosing what height and placement work best for you and your setup. The benefits of ICEPLATE® Curve are now truly universal: plate carrier or vest, hard or soft, MOLLE or slick, overt or covert. IMS Versa Gen 3 works with everything.
Note: This product is for existing ICEPLATE® Curve owners and for those wishing to mix and match ICEPLATE® / Source 90 Drink Hose / IMS VERSA Gen 3 colors. For those new to the IMS family, we highly recommend the IMS Versa Gen 3 Combo which includes ICEPLATE® Curve and a Source 90 Drink Hose.

Is the IMS VERSA Gen 3 better than the IMS Pro?
While the IMS Versa has brought many more plate carriers up to speed with integrating ICEPLATE® Curve, the IMS Pro is still what we consider the ultimate plate carrier hydration and thermoregulation solution. If your setup is compatible with IMS Pro, we would advise to utilize that product for superior performance and optionality.
Can this mount to my slick Plate Carrier?
Unless your carrier has MOLLE, the IMS family (ICEPLATE MOLLE Sleeve) likely won't be the solution you're looking for. Instead, we would recommend adding Velcro to the inside of your carrier's rear plate bag and utilizing the IMS Pro. You can also follow a customer's solution for their Ferro Concepts Slickster here.
Why doesn't IMS VERSA Gen 3 have loop Velcro® on it like IMS Pro?
There are two reasons why IMS Versa Gen 3 does not have loop Velcro® on it like IMS Pro:
1. IMS Versa Gen 3 is designed explicitly for conductive thermoregulation and hydration (click here for details on the three methods of heat transfer). ICEVENTS® facilitate convective thermoregulation (i.e. evaporative cooling, see previous link for more details). While our ICEVENTS® technology is unrivaled in terms of capability, it is not optimized for conduction (although it does have some mild conductive attributes) and would therefore inhibit the conductive properties of IMS Versa Gen 3.
2. IMS Pro comes with both hook and loop Velcro® sides for exactly this reason to give the user maximum flexibility: conductive thermoregulation, convective thermoregulation, and hydration in a form factor that can be mounted internally or externally.

Yes, whether you are using IMS, IMS Pro or IMS VERSA Gen 3, all will not infringe on your ability to use Zip On panels from Crye or Back Panels from Velocity Systems. If your on the fence just do it you will not regret it. This is a great addition to any setup. When you think about it you have cooling or heating capabilities while also having half a days water streamlined into your gear with little or no additional drag. It's a smart and effective way to have your gear multitask without adding bulk.

I mounted this on the inside of my AR500 Veritas PC. I use this PC for weighted runs and workouts only. Mounting the pouch to the PC was a little tricky. Top straps are easy, the side straps are more difficult. I ended up using all the supplied straps to best secure the sleeve to the pc.
The main complaint I have with this product is that sliding the iceplate into the sleeve and securing it with the Velcro flap on the bottom is not easy. The plate does not easily slide all the way into the pouch, and I can not fully secure the velcro flap. The flap is only about half secured when closed. It has not happened, but I could see the Velcro coming undone while running, and the plate falling out the bottom of the vest. It may not fit well because the metal plate in the back of the PC is single curve, while the iceplate is multicurve.

Thank you for taking the time to share an honest account of your IMS Versa experience. As you noted in your review and also per the specifications on our website, ICEPLATE® Curve geometry is conformal to Medium ESAPI multi-curve armor plates only. ICEPLATE® Curve is not conformal with any other type of armor plate and as such, the interface will not function as designed. I have had the Ice Plate for some time, but always put it inside my Plate Carrier. I finally decided to grab the sleeve and give it a try. Whole new ball game. So much cooler having it next to the skin. The plate carrier usually has some padding to make it more comfortable. But having the sleeve right there is way better. And it’s way easier to load after you have refrozen it. My plate carrier is a bother to open and revelcro each time. This is a game changer.

Currently using this product in Texas, freezing the water prior to using makes a huge difference. Wearing it under body armor and a pack is also just as comfortable as without, I feel no difference. Also, the fact that the bladder is a hard cell gives the added benefit of not worrying about a soft bladder popping.
