Recessed Fill Port
Our early IcePlate® sketches had the fill port above the top of the bottle, like most water bottles. But when wearing it on the front, the last thing we wanted to do was create something that (under duress) could come up and hit you in the throat. We also noted that putting the fill port above the rest of the IcePlate® footprint would be less space efficient for fitting IcePlate® in Plate Carriers or stacking them in coolers; we wanted to get as much water-carrying and cooling capability as we could per inch of height.
Therefore, we recessed the fill port of IcePlate® so that the top of IcePlate® is flat across, just like to an armor plate. With these similar footprints, IcePlate® stays low profile under plate carriers and remains easy to open and fill. It also helps contribute to IcePlate’s® incredible storage density compared to bottled water. The Recessed Fill Port is a classic example of subtle design that makes a big difference.
