Technical Plate Carrier Review: SLPC 2.0 Dynamic Principles Slick Plate Carrier

Founded with a focus on real-world application and modularity, Dynamic Principles is an American design and manufacturing company that’s rapidly gaining attention for blending innovation with end-user feedback. While their Dynamic Plate Carrier brought them into the spotlight, their follow-up—the SLPC 2.0—was born to meet a different mission profile.

Designed with lightweight, low-profile use in mind, the SLPC 2.0 includes features that blend concealability and utility. The SLPC 2.0 was envisioned for use in plain clothes, low-visibility operations, or scenarios where reduced bulk is necessary while maintaining basic load carriage capability.

As with our previous installments, this overview is facts-first and instrument-backed. We don't share conjectures or opinions. We aim to provide you with the necessary data to make informed decisions, empowering you to reach your highest potential. That is what Building A Superhuman Future® is all about.

Relationship Disclosure

We have a friendly relationship with Dynamic Principles. They sent us the SLPC 2.0 featured in this video, and have also sent us their placards and pouches to use in our marketing content and product photography. That said, this overview—like all videos in our INSIGHTS series—is strictly objective and data-driven. Our mission is to provide empirical, quantifiable information that empowers you to make informed decisions. We do not offer opinions, endorsements, or speculation—only facts supported by instrumentation and repeatable testing.

IceAge Ecosystem Integration

Now, let’s find out how seamlessly the Dynamic Principles SLPC 2.0 integrates with our suite of thermoregulation tools, the IceAge Ecosystem.

Because the SLPC 2.0 features a velcro loop field on the interior of both plate bags, it seamlessly integrates with IMS Pro Gen 3 and ICEPLATE® Curve to provide 50 fluid ounces of cooling, heating, and hydration and also ICEVENTS® ventilation pontoons for standoff ventilation.

ICEFLASK™ Wing Holster can be mounted behind the placard for an additional 16.9 Fluid Ounces of cooling, heating and hydration capability. ICEFLASK™ MOLLE Holster can be mounted via OneWrap to the Structural and Hybrid cummerbunds.

ICEVENTS® Aero and Classic Shoulder Pads attach seamlessly to the laser-cut hook/loop shoulder system of the SLPC 2.0.

Weight

Dry Weight

Few things impact human performance more than weight. Ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain. We all know this. Now let’s find out how much the Dynamic Principles SLPC 2.0 weighs when dry.

With the front and rear plate bags, elastic cummerbund, and First Spear Tubes adapters, the SLPC 2.0 weighs 1.45 pounds or 23.2 ounces.

Wet Weight

Does wet weight matter more than dry weight? It depends on your mission. A Plate carrier’s ability to shed water weight quickly can dramatically impact operator performance. Let’s see how much the SLPC 2.0 weighs when wet.

Our experimental design for this test is simple and the same across all of our wet weight tests. We submerged the SLPC 2.0 for 60 minutes, hung it to dry for 60 seconds, and weighed it. The SLPC 2.0’s Wet Weight came out to: 2.0 pounds or 32 ounces.

Thermal Transmittance

Thermal transmittance refers to the rate at which heat moves through a material. In the context of plate carriers, high thermal transmittance allows the body to release excess heat generated during intense physical activity.

The SLPC 2.0 recorded a baseline surface temperature of 84 degrees fahrenheit and an ICEPLATE® inside temperature of 49 degrees fahrenheit resulting in a thermal shift of 35 degrees fahrenheit.

The larger the spread between the Baseline Surface Temperature and the surface reading at room temperature, the higher the Thermal Transmittance of that plate carrier. This means it is better at removing heat to let your body's thermoregulation mechanisms work as naturally as possible.

Unique Features

The SLPC 2.0 includes clamshell-style plate bags that wrap around plates for tight, low-bulk fitment across a wide range of sizes and cuts. It also features internal velcro loop fields for additional accessory attachments and laser-cut hook and loop shoulder straps to reduce the profile for concealed wear.

Attachment Mechanisms

The SLPC 2.0 utilizes five main attachment mechanisms:

  • Hook and loop
  • Removable QASM buckles on front plate bag
  • Laser-cut loop field on back for cummerbund attachment
  • MOLLE Fields on both the front and rear plate bags

Variety

From colorways to sizing, let’s talk about the SLPC 2.0’s variety.

  • Available colors: Black, Coyote, M81 Woodland, Multicam, Multicam Black, and Ranger Green.

The SLPC 2.0 only comes in one size, but the plate bags fit small to medium SAPI, small to medium swimmer, and up to 10x12 SAPI cut plates.
