Inspired by hard-working honeybees, the honeycomb design of ICEVENTS® is a revolutionary technology that improves airflow under the kit, effectively absorbs impact, and efficiently disperses weight. You may find a similar hexagonal pattern on other types of padding, but none provide the same ventilation as our honeycomb technology.
The foundation for our ICEVENTS® line is a Stimulite
thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), which is a lightweight, durable plastic-like substance. This material provides superior flexibility, durability, versatility, and ventilation.

No! ICEVENTS® is a revolutionary technology that actually helps with load dispersion, decreasing felt weight. Here are the specific weights of our different ICEVENTS® products (for plate carriers):
As you can see our ICEVENTS® products weigh practically nothing at all! This is particularly pronounced when compared to traditional foam inserts which can weigh over 5-6 ounces per pad! This may not seem like much, but every ounce matters when you are wearing your plate carrier all day or trekking for miles.
ICEVENTS® don't have to be cleaned with regular daily use because they are antimicrobial at the molecular level. Should cleaning be required, simply hand wash them with a tiny bit of laundry detergent/soap, rinse thoroughly, and then hang until completely dry (preferably in the sun).
Not at all! Our ICEVENTS® were thoughtfully engineered to not move or crinkle when you are on duty. Do not be fooled by the boom mic we used in our video!

You are more than welcome to, but we don’t recommend that method. The best part about ICEVENTS® is that they are not just a comfortable layer, they create ventilation underneath your setup and help with load dispersion as well. If you cut out foam to act as a comfort barrier between your plate carrier or duty belt, you will find that while it can decrease hot spots, foam is an insulator and retains heat.
Our plate carrier pads will keep you dry and comfortable thanks to omnidirectional venting. Don’t compromise on comfort, choose ICEVENTS®!
First off, both ICEVENTS® and spacer mesh are comfortable and effective at eliminating hot spots. However, unlike ICEVENTS®, spacer mesh has poor thermal transmission/exchange properties. Meaning, like foam, spacer mesh is a natural insulator that will nullify the powerful cooling effects of ICEPLATE®.
Yes! ICEVENTS® has been made universal thanks to its innovative design. You do not need ICEPLATE EXO® to use our ICEVENTS®. No worries about it fitting whichever plate carrier or duty belt that you currently have in your setup. Check out this blog for an in-depth compatibility chart!
No. The purpose of ICEVENTS® is not to add protection to your setup but to increase comfort!
However, while ICEVENTS® cannot do this, ICEPLATE® nearly eliminates back face defamation when worn behind soft armor according to our testing.
