Awesome concept, I come from front line military with previous service overseas. Current LEO and all I can say is Im so great full for Qore thinking outside the box. I just wish when we dropped into the sand we had this product. Very happy and highly recommend as a primary hydration set up.
So far works well. Haven’t had a chance to use it in hot weather because it is now in the 30’s-40’s.
Everything is great but the little gasket used to seal the caps to the ice plate. After destroying one I was able to trim the gasket they sent to make it work. Why make such a good part then skimp on the .2 cent gasket
I bought the ice plate wanting to try it out. The concept seemed really smart. Had it on my gear for about two weeks now and I just wish I had had one of these while I was in the Marine Corps. Plan on buying one for a buddy who is in Iraq.
A lot of people give the 5.11 TACTEC plate carrier grief but it proves it's worth everyday and the latest was the addition to the Qore curve ice plate. I was hoping it would fit in the back plate sleeve instead of attaching it to the back. My calculations were correct. It now sits behind my level3 steel plate. It fits better with the curve which is more natural to my back arch and shoulders. I am curious about the benefit of a hydration plate substituting a trauma pay. I would think it would be better if not the same, definitely can't hurt. So now I have a hydration system inside my plate carrier not taking up space or surface area. I like the pads on the TACTEC so I don't lose the comfort. Not a lot of the more expensive PCs can do that in junction with the Qore curve. The Qore is by far the best "bladder" for a PC set up. I've used other name brands and they tend to pop or leak eventually.
Exactly what I was looking for, and got exactly what I wanted. Couldn’t be happier, also shipping was insanely fast, overall 10/10!
So far I have tested the IcePlate during a 4 hr blacksmithing session inside a light basketball string backpack and also at the range worn on the back under my NIJ IV plate carrier fully decked out for 4-5hrs... both applications were subject to 90F+ temps for prolonged periods on a 200lb 6ft man. Further detailed observation was that cooling effect was shorter but provided more quickly consumable ice cold water when it was pulled out of the freezer and run the cold tap water thru the ice plate for 2 mins uncapped before installing on the plate carrier and a 45 min drive to the range after which it was worn.
I recommend immediate application w/out running water thru it to prep. The “portable A/C effect” lasts much longer and still provides ample hydration for 4-6hrs💪🏼
I can honestly say I was skeptical on the quality and use/performance.
I only wish I had purchased the ice place much sooner. The average temperature at the range is +95. With the ice place the temperature is now immaterial. Exquisite is the ice pack .
