This is the best opportunity to get your hands on our CATAMARAN at a great price point. This is an adapter panel for plate carriers that do not have internal Velcro loop to mount ICEVENTS Pontoons (not included). These do not come with straps but may still be mounted with shock cord via the eyelets laser cut into the panels.

Great for heavy loadouts/hot weather

I run a Crye AVS for work, and the ice vents have been great. Keeps the carrier off my chest and allows ample airflow.

These may not have been the right choice for me

TLDR: these were hotter, stickier, and less cushion than expected. I compare the plastic honey comb to the zipper portion of a zip lock bag. Still using them, until i try another solution

I wear a 20 lb vest, 3-5 days a week, some days the vest is on and off throughout the day, for 16hrs. During the initial wear it had been snowing with a handful of nice spring days. My base vest is very light weight construction similar to the Velcro panel included in this set, but perforated carbon fiber. No ballistic in front and a steel plate in the rear to counter balance tools in the front. I was using the foam lattice that was original to the vest, similar thickness but the through holes in the original foam provided a lot of ventilation so comarably this product was noticeably warmer during the cold days. The plastic honey comb of the pads really felt like it grabbed at my jumpsuit but would settle after a hour of wearing, not uncomfortable, just first impression. As far as padding, these are harder than foam and have decreased the duration I'm comfortable during long wear times.
The big test will be how well these clean when exposed to other people's nasty bodily substances, lots of little spaces to gather... Stuff.

Dear valued customer,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our CATAMARAN Gen 3 Combo. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that the product did not meet your expectations.

We would like to clarify that ICEVENTS® are proven to empirically beat foam and spacer mesh when it comes to thermoregulation. Here are two links to the testing data:

Catamaran and Vents

I wasn’t sure it would work on my carrier as it’s a bit older but I got the adapters to hook up fine and i was surprised but how well the vents work. Keeps me cooler with a full coverage carrier and def a 10/10 purchase and worth the money.

Works well on a backpack

I got the Catamaran to manage the heat from wearing a backpack in a tropical country. It's pretty good in giving me airspace with the pontoons, and an inadvertent additional suspension airspace between the Catamaran panel and my backpack. Civilian backpacks don't have the molle straps to properly mount the Catamaran panel, so I jury-rigged it with items in the package - shock cord goes around the top of the backpack shoulder straps, and the velco one wrap straps attach the bottom of the panel to the bottom of the backpack shoulders straps.

It's not perfect and putting on the backpack does require extra fiddling, but it helps, it's modular and it can be migrated to other backpacks when my current one wears out. If Qore makes a backpack attachment kit for this, I'm in!

Worth It

I've been eyeing the Ice Vents for quite a while now but didn't want to change vests or go through the hassle of sewing the hook and loop (I honestly don't trust the sticky back hook and loop to stay). But the Catamaran was super easy to install and now I get to enjoy the Ice Vents. You do have to leave the top row of your molle available to mount it unless you want to go through the hassle of using the shock cord. The shock cord seemed nearly impossible to route through the Catamaran platform. After about 10 minutes of getting nowhere with it I gave up. Otherwise pretty great.
