IceVents® Aero Plate Carrier Shoulder Pads are designed for military, law enforcement, security contractors, prepared citizens, and competition athletes (Tactical Games, Patriot Games, Crossfit, etc.) wearing plate carriers, backpacks, or rucks, who prioritize efficiency, speed, and agility. Put these on my JPC 2 and wore it as well as my 50 pound ruck for 10 miles through steep terrain and multiple LDA’s. They have drastically increased the comfy factor of the plate carrier, if you don’t have these already I would heavily recommend you pick them.
I thought the sort of hard feeling of the backing wouldn't be pliable or great for cushioning. Man was I wrong. I have a covert-ish plate carrier, no pads as it's not meant to be loaded down. I put everything and the kitchen sink on mine, and as a result my shoulders hurt. Strapped on the IceVents (and some comms since the velcro attachments lets you cut to fit and allows cable routing) and the weight disappeared instantly. It really felt like I wasn't even wearing anything but my shirt. The pricing is a little steep but they are worth it in my opinion. Only pads I will bother getting, and I will be putting them on any and everything else I get.
The airflow when I did happen to get a light breeze was great also. That's probably it's main purpose considering the name, but the weight distribution was the effect I noticed most as it's not weather dependant.
After using the shoulder pads for about a week I really like them. They are attached to my gen2 USMC plate carrier and make it much more comfortable to wear for any period of time
Pads are amazing and disperse weight better than some bigger and what seem like they would be more padded options. Edges of material on the top can be abrasive to the neck at times, especially don and doff. Great product from an American to the qore😉 company
I have not tried other aftermarket shoulder pads for plate carriers. But the IceVents Aero seemed very compelling. I put them on my AC1 that has L210's and Premier Level IIIA backers, and 6 fully loaded mags (its pretty heavy for what it is). They significantly improved shoulder fatigue, rubbing on the neck, and the level of sweat propagation in that area. The L210's are kinda heavy especially combined with IIIA backers, but these shoulder pads make it bearable. I can't wait to try them on a lighter 3810 setup combined with the IceVents Pontoons. Seriously though, the ability of this material to not completely cave under weight and still allow actual air flow is key. The nylon mesh material type pads that came with my carriers just don't cut it, they don't actually allow airflow because they aren't rigid enough to keep the air pockets open under weight. I would imagine other after market pads are the same thing, just bulkier. These are worth it.
IceVents Aero Minimalist Plate Carrier Shoulder Pads (PowerMesh backing)
I’ve been running these on my Ferro Concepts Slickster for about a month now and have had no complaints as these pads have kept my Shoulders cool and breathing even after wearing my carrier for several hours at a time. I would recommend these to anyone who is loading down their PC a little more than normal or for anyone who is wearing armor for an extended period.
They work very well wasn’t sure what they would feel like but a rigid hold form under the weight of the plate carrier and are very comfortable glad I purchased this.
I've worn numerous shoulder pads for years and finally discovered these. They sit on all of my carriers now. Best ventilation to padding ratio in the industry
I have not had a chance to really put them through their paces so to speak but I tried on my chest rig fully loaded with the vents and immediately felt a difference. The setup is much more comfortable as the vents keep the straps from digging into my shoulders and the extra lift created helps keep the weight slightly off my body. I would say that if you plan on using these on a chest rig while not wearing a collared shirt, you will have to fiddle with the Velcro straps so they do not sit on bare skin. This is super easy to do and, if you have a shirt with a collar, you don’t need to worry about it. All in all, I highly recommend these vents and look forward to using them during training. I may even grab an extra set for the front of the rig. Also, a word about Qore Performance, this is a fantastic company with top notch customer service and fast shipping. They are incredible, if you are thinking of purchasing something from them, do it. You will not be disappointed!
