How to tell the difference between Left Exit and Right Exit IcePlate® Curves and which one is right for me?

IcePlate® Curve, the world's first and only hard cell plate carrier hydration system that doubles as an active cooling and/or heating system for body armor, is available in Left Exit and Right Exit configurations. These offerings facilitate multiple uses:

Left exit IcePlates have IceCaps on the left, Right exit IcePlates have IceCaps on the Right

1. Right Handed Shooters, Outdoor Enthusiasts, Safety Professionals:
Wear a single IcePlate® Curve Left Exit on the back, under or over hard armor plates. For maximum optionality and smooth Source 90 Drink Tube management, we recommend our IMS Pro Combo MOLLE plate carrier hydration system. IMS Pro features twin laser-cut drink tube routing ports along the top of the sleeve to prevent interference with other kit like commo, weapon slings, etc. These routing ports also help with management of excess slack for shorter or smaller framed individuals (generally shorter than 5’-8”). IMS Pro can be worn under your plate carrier or body armor for conductive cooling/heating/hydration or on the outside of your plate carrier for external hard cell hydration only.

Above: As of 15NOV 2022, IcePlate Curve began shipping with an "L" next to the Exit Port to designate Left Exit.

Important note: MOST left handed shooters can use IcePlate Curve Left Exit, especially in IMS Pro Combo form, with zero issues because our Source90 Drink Tube is long enough to accommodate both right and left handed shooters. 

2. Left Handed Shooters, Outdoor Enthusiasts, Safety Professionals:
Wear a single IcePlate® Curve Right Exit on the back, under or over hard armor plates. For maximum optionality and smooth Source 90 Drink Tube management, we recommend our IMS Pro Combo MOLLE plate carrier hydration system. IMS Pro features twin laser-cut drink tube routing ports along the top of the sleeve to prevent interference with other kit like commo, weapon slings, etc.

Plate carrier hydration: IcePlate Curve Right Exit for Military, SOF

IMS Pro can be worn under your plate carrier or body armor for conductive cooling/heating/hydration or on the outside of your plate carrier for external hard cell hydration only. 

Important note: IcePlate Curve Right Exit is only really necessary for left handed tall shooters or who want to run drinkable front and rear IcePlate Curves in something like our IceVest HiVis Class 2, IceVest Black, or IcePlate EXO-XFT.

3. CBRNE, HAZMAT, EOD, Outdoor Enthusiasts and Safety Professionals:
Wear an IcePlate® Curve Pair using an IcePlate® Carrier of your choice for all day cooling, heating and hydration.

4. Wild Card:
Depending on stature, some shooters may want to wear an IcePlate® Curve with the TotalDrain Technology Exit Port on the same side of their dominant shooting hand (Left or Right) to take up extra slack in the Source 90 Drink Tube which is 34" in length. This generally applies to shooters under 5'-6" (167 cm) tall.

Worn close to the body, ICEPLATE® Curve is a Medium ESAPI-shaped water bottle that cools/warms/hydrates you with 50 fl oz (1.5 L) of drinking water, delivering 70 watts of cooling power or 52 watts of heating power with hands-free plate carrier or backpack hydration for unparalleled control over your environment. Another way to think of ICEPLATE® Curve is like a booster rocket designed to put you into orbit with a full gas tank, not necessarily to last the entire mission. Engineered for elite users looking for every edge in the performance of their duties, ICEPLATE® Curve creates decisive competitive advantages where none previously existed by weaponizing temperature to enhance performance and survivability.

ICECAP Update 08AUG 2024: effective immediately, all ICEPLATE® Curve Drinkable and Standalone orders will ship with ICECAPS that do not have the gray shroud on the white female QD shown in photography and videos. We are depleting our inventory of the current generation ICECAP to replace it with the all-new ICECAP Gen 3 in the coming months. As soon as ICECAP Gen 3 is released, all ICEPLATE® Curve Drinkable and Standalone customers who placed orders after 08 AUG 2024 will receive a code for a FREE ICECAP Gen 3 to replace their white Q/D parts. 

Please Note: ICEPLATE® Curve is designed to be used with a member of our IMS  (ICEPLATE® MOLLE Sleeve) Collection: IMS, IMS Pro, or IMS VERSA. IMS accessories are recommended for the optimal experience when running ICEPLATE® Curve with a plate carrier or vest. Each one is designed to meet specific needs, so you can choose the one that's right for you. For Sport and recreational use, we suggest our ICEPLATE® Backpack Gen 3 or ICEPLATE EXO®-SLK Gen 3. MOLLE Velcro Side Release Armor Straps are not included with ICEPLATE® Curve.

What is the ICEPLATE® Curve?

A premium hydration bladder, ICEPLATE® Curve is a medium ESAPI-shaped water reservoir that cools/warms/hydrates you with 50 fl oz (1.5 L) of drinking water delivering 70 watts of cooling power and 52 watts of heating power.
