Cleaning your ICEPLATE® water bladder is actually incredibly simple, because it is dishwasher safe. Just unscrew the cap, which you can put in the silverware compartment, and place the ICEPLATE® cap side down in the lower rack. You can then run a normal wash and dry cycle.
You can also wash your ICEPLATE® the old-fashioned way, by hand. Fill your sink with hot, soapy water and clean the exterior with a non-scratch surface sponge. Be sure to flush water through the bite valve before drinking.

Your water bladder drinking tube is also dishwasher safe. So, you can put it in when you clean your ICEPLATE®. You can also handwash in a similar manner to your ICEPLATE® that is outlined above.
Some have noticed a build up of condensation that can be difficult to remove. While not a big issue for day-to-day use, this should be addressed for long-term storage. You can use the Platypus Tube Brush here.

Theoretically, you could put other liquids in your ICEPLATE®. That being said, we recommend that you stick with water. Water will give you the best results and is much easier to clean.
The best way to ensure your ICEPLATE® is completely dry is to hang it up. An easy way to do this is to attach a rubber band to the top strap loop and hang it up. For best results, the rubber band should be inserted through the strap loop opposite the exit port for max drainage efficiency. The TotalDrain Technology allows all remaining moisture in the water bladder to escape.
Similar to ICEPLATE®, hang up your water bladder tube for drying. If there is leftover condensation that is difficult to remove, you can run a tube brush through it.
Absolutely! ICEPLATE® is the quietest way to hold your water thanks to its hardcell construction. This is essential in a variety of tactical scenarios.

We recommend removing any leftover water and drying out your ICEPLATE® after every use. Water will start to go “bad” after as little as 24 hours, depending on the storage conditions.
However, freezing your ICEPLATE® and, subsequently the water inside, will allow you to store the water for much longer.
Each ICEPLATE®, including our ICEPLATE® Curve and ICEPLATE® Classic, can hold over 50 fluid ounces, or approximately 1.5 liters of water. In addition to its hydration capabilities, the ICEPLATE® provides 70 watts of cooling power, reducing the need for excessive water consumption. In colder weather, filling the ICEPLATE® with hot water can help keep you warm with 52 watts of heating power!
Used fully frozen, ICEPLATE® will typically keep you cool for several hours and hydrated for a full 8-hour shift.
It’s important to note that variations in metabolic efficiency, size, and environmental conditions will have an impact on the duration.
Yes, ICEPLATE® is designed to generate condensation that cools the outer layer of your clothing. This condensation evaporates, effectively eliminating considerable heat to help you #StayFrosty® and dry. Users often report feeling completely dry after a shift. We recommend combining the ICEPLATE® with moisture-wicking or hydrophobic base layers, like our TCCC Shorts, for optimum results.
Whether worn on the front or back, the ICEPLATE® performs efficiently. If you're unsure about the best position, we recommend wearing it on your back for the first use.

Given the consistent weight of water at room temperature, which is 8.33 pounds per gallon, 50 fluid ounces of water weighs around 3.26 pounds.
